Tex-Fab launches 'design to fabricate' competition
[Submissions should be received by 31 March 2012] The collaborative group Tex-Fab has released a ‘design to fabricate’ competition looking for structures that, through construction, could support new design concepts
Based around digital fabrication and computer modelling, proposals are sought for two categories, research projects which are wholly conceptual and developed projects requiring final full scale fabrication.
Recommended construction materials include laser cut aluminium, CNC cut woods and water jet cut steel plate, though other materials and processes are welcome if based on previous research.
A two stage international competition; four proposals will be given a stipend of $1,250 to fund further development with the winning design then fabricated.
First round submissions should be received by 31 March 2012
Second round submissions should be received by August 2012
Winners will be announced September 2012
