Competitions: Editor's Pick, 08.12.11

The British Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale, a Royal Mail framework and Kedleston Hall. The editor’s pick of this week’s top competitions

The British Council is seeking proposals from architects, students, writers, critics and academics for the British Pavilion at the 13th Venice Architecture Biennale (muf’s 2010 scheme pictured). The exhibition is expected to focus on ‘what makes great architecture’, looking at construction, housing, procurement, competitions and clients. [Open call for proposals will launch on 10 January 2012]

The Royal Mail Group is seeking architectural design services as part of a six-year framework agreement. Architects with UK-wide coverage are sought for new-builds, extensions, refurbishments and fit-outs. The contract covers mail centres, delivery offices, regional distribution centres, vehicle workshops and depots. [Requests to participate must be received by 10 January 2012]

The National Trust is calling for expressions of interest from designers for ‘Playful Incident’, a commission for Kedleston Hall, Derbyshire. The brief calls for site-specific temporary structures and works of art which create new ways to experience the grounds. The winner will receive £60,000 to realise the project. [Expressions of interest must be received by 15 January 2012]
