Blogs vs Websites: the gap narrows
It's getting increasingly difficult to tell websites from blogs. So sophisticated have the latter become. Technically, I suppose, a blog is defined by the fact that it is hosted via such as Xanga, Blogger, Blogspot, Livejournal, and WordPress. Look at Wikipedia for a simple definition and you're lost because they range from Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffingtion's impressive Huffington Post to the more traditional musings by adolescents in darkened bedrooms about the Nature Of Life. And it gets a bit complicated when blogs take rather similar names. Take bldgblog and BUILD.blog. The former, is, says its Google entry, 'by Los Angeles-based writer Geoff Manaugh [which] provides architectural news and conjecture, heavily illustrated.' Unlike most bloggers Manaugh is both a talented writer and a perceptive critic and editor of material he filters from the wider world of architecture-related writing. He is also an editor of the mainstream Archinet.
