A few weeks ago I took ironic issue here with a video director friend about architects making their own videos on the grounds of citizen-journalism, podcasting and all that YouTube stuff. Just as citizen-Grand-Designing is encroaching on the profession's preserve...
Now it seems that famed US movie director Spike Lee is making a feature-length film shot entirely on Nokia cellphones by members of the public. Hello to the citizen-movie. It's a post-hippy people's collaboration thing so it can't be all bad.
But just think. That office promo video you shot the other weekend. I know, I know, it justified buying that amazing 25 megapixel digital moviecam. But look, you're actually an architect, not a seasoned director. Don't embarrass yourself and your young hungry staff who already despise you for being over 40. Instead send it in to Spike Lee here . An on-line vote determines which ten videos get incorporated in the Lee movie. Who knows? Possibly one in the eye for the CAD monkeys.
