Explosion of colour

No doubt at all that 'Newseum' is a seriously crap name for the new museum of news which opened recently in Washington, the US federal capital. Something to do with an equally smelly word, infotainment.

Oddly, the blog pointing the finger of scorn has an equally aaargh name, Unbeige. You sort of get the reference to the boring colour of computer and office kit and general eager-not-to-offend blandness. To which this design and architecture blog is so not devoted.

You can get a daily email news feed and there's some quite interesting stuff on it – the issue I looked at had such items as the fact that Edgar J. Fallingwater Kaufman's Palm Springs retreat is to be auctioned by Christies next month. The Richard Neutra house has a guide price of between $15 million and $25 million. For balance there's an somewhat arch piece about how Pentagram has taken over New York, and then some well-justified hand-wringing about Web 3.0.

Web 3.0? you ask. Don't. I've added it to my free subscriptions but already I'm getting targeted ads so maybe not for long.
