Running off the map

Three of the AJ's staff spent a fascinating morning with the Ordnance Survey last week, intrigued to discover a whole room full of people staring at aerial photos on a screen through 3D glasses.

The survey occupies the largest building in Southampton, originally set up for legions of draughttsmen, which has seemingly endless corridors, and echoing concrete staircases.

In some of those corridors were heart-shaped logos with numbers against them. When the visitors enquired what those meant they were told that they were part of a post Xmas get-fit initiative, with staff encouraged to follow 20-minute walking tours in their lunch breaks.

Maybe the AJ team should follow suit. After all, our offices in the old Black Cat cigarette factory are on a racetrack plan...
