Centenary Bar: Lukas Barry and Patrick Skingley

The University of Sheffield held a competition open to all students and staff to design and build a bar celebrating the 100th anniversary of its School of Architecture

The winning entry, by students Lukas Barry and Patrick Skingley, was inspired by Sheffield’s prominent, hilly topography, as seen from the top floors of the Arts Tower, Sheffield’s tallest building. Constructed using 240 pieces of CNC-cut plywood, the bar is designed to split into components that can be conveniently moved. The intention was to celebrate the students’ relationship with the city.
