Granny Takes a Trip − On the reconstruction project of a West London boutique (see page 30), oak fins form a vertical balustrade where the new glass extension meets the existing building. These fins, precisely set out to control the amount of direct sunlight, act as fixing points for objects displayed within the space below. The fins turn and run horizontally underneath the glass roof until halfway across, at which point the fins run above the glazing.
