INTO University of Exeter development by Lacey Hickie Caley

[FIRST LOOK + PLANS] This £40 million development has been commissioned for international students studying at the INTO University of Exeter on the University’s Streatham campus

Spanning a building area of about 2,900m², the project will include a teaching complex and five student halls of residence at Duryard, built to a sleek and contemporary design from Lacey Hickie Caley.

The complex maximises the use of natural daylight through a three-storey glazed climate wall, which ‘encourages transparency and dialogue between the INTO student community and the wider campus’. The complex is intended to create a dynamic and inspirational space and features 3,000m² of teaching space.

Jeremy Lindley, Director of Corporate Services & Finance Services at the University of Exeter, said: ‘The University of Exeter is becoming increasingly international and record numbers of international students have joined us this year – we attract students from 120 different countries. We fully support this exciting development, which will provide INTO students with the best possible facilities during their time at Exeter.’

The new student residences are set in the grounds to the west side of the Streatham campus, near Lower Argyll Road and the Duryard House. The five-block residential development will offer 517 bedrooms with en suite bathrooms; shared kitchen, laundry and communal areas; and extensive provision for bicycle storage.

INTO University of Exeter offers a range of academic preparatory and English language programmes for international students to enable them to progress onto degree studies of their choice at the University of Exeter. The Centre caters for 700 international students from 42 countries and is served by a team of 80 staff.
