The Way to the Sea, Suffolk by Pippa Nissen Studio

[SMALL PROJECTS 2011 - BEST OF THE REST] A series of installations through the local landscape

The installations were part of the 2010 Aldeburgh Festival. The village could participate, with two staged performances as the audience walked around the village.

Celebrating a hundred years of the village, it was inspired by the ‘House in the Clouds’ a suburban house raised off the ground, disguising a water tower.

The installations were versions of the house which appeared in two forms; on the beach dug into the pebbles as if it has been washed ashore; and suspended on the central artificial lake where hidden platforms allowed a performer to appear to walk on water.
