Boddingtons appointment completes double brewery order for HKR
The 7.3ha plant, which was controversially closed in 2005 when beer production was moved to South Wales, is being developed by Ask Developments and Realty Estates under a masterplan drawn up by HOK (pictured).
As well as a 20-storey tower and public square, the £250 million scheme will provide 480 new homes, a college and a series of low-rise mixed-use blocks, ranging in height from five to eight storeys.
The appointment is the second brewery scheme HKR has bagged in the region in the last six months.
Last September the practice's Manchester office saw off Glenn Howells and Studio Egret West to scoop a high-profile contest to mastermind the redevelopment of the famous Brown Bros Building, a former warehouse and brewery in Salford.
