Arctic monkeying with Clegg and Prasad

  • Comment

Architects and artists wait impatiently for Ian McEwan’s new novel, Solar, in which he lampoons various creative types who joined him on a 2005 global warming fact-finding trip to the Arctic

The character of Jesus, a Spanish sculptor who makes ice statues of penguins, is said to be inspired by Antony Gormley, while Rachel Whiteread may recognise Stella Polkinghorne, an artist who creates a ‘Monopoly set on a playing field in Catford with each side of the painted board 100 metres long’.

Peter Clegg of Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios was on the same voyage as McEwan and Sunand Prasad took a similar trip in 2007. Can they expect to be immortalised in print as well?
