Arch rivals on Merseyside

Astragal has been following the progress of the proposed new home for Liverpool Football Club for some years now

The £350 million scheme by HKS Architects – which won planning in 2007 that runs out next year – has the backing of controversial club owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett.

Readers may remember local architect Trevor Skempton came up with a cheeky proposal for arch-rivals Liverpool FC and Everton FC to share a home on the site in Stanley Park. Now Astragal hears Ian Ritchie has drawn up his own plans and has even sent them to CABE for their perusal – although it’s not clear exactly who at the club is supporting these plans.
