Corner Cottage, Dover, by Guy Hollaway Architects

[SMALL PROJECTS 2011 - BEST OF THE REST] Refurbishment and reorganisation of an existing house and replacement of the undefined entrance

The extension uses sculptural forms wrapping from the dwellings rear to its side. This provides a new one-and-a-half height entrance and first floor bedroom providing views to the English Channel. The extension is purposely defined from the original structure through its geometry, becoming a clear addition to the building. As well as forming a focal point at the buildings entrance.

The internal reorganisation centres around a double-height gallery/living space, leading to seperate kitchen and dining rooms. This creates an open-plan, allowing for the application of bespoke interior design.
