One of 14 Olympic projects in the Library, during the Games the stadium will be one of the venues for football and will host the gold medal matches.
The stadium has a retractable roof. When the roof is open it allows the turf to get sufficient sunlight and air, while in poor weather it can be closed to cover the entire seating bowl. The roof is supported structurally by a 133-metre-high arch that towers above the stadium, creating an icon and a London landmark.
