AHMM unveils City Road development

Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has submitted a planning application for a mixed-use redevelopment of Trans World House 100 City Road in north London

If successful the proposal for a six-storey office block with retail space and nine residential units could replace a consented but unbuilt project by Squire and Partners. The project also aims to improve access to nearby Old Street tube station.

The building will have floor to ceiling glass cladding with alternating perforated and solid panels.

In November CABE’s design reviewers criticised some aspects of the design. A report said: ‘Whilst the tall building has a quality that evokes the office buildings of 1960s Milan, it comes across as relentless and domineering.’
