AHMM bags go-ahead for south London tower

Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has won planning permission for its revised proposals for an office tower on Blackfriars Road in south London

Southwark Council approved the 17,600m² scheme which be built close to Blackfriars Bridge in Southwark on Tuesday (22 March).

The 19-storey glass and aluminium-clad building, which features ground floor retail units, is two-storeys taller than AHMM’s previously consented scheme for the site.

Designed together with Adams Kara Taylor, the £61 million project for Great Portland Estates is scheduled to complete in 2013.

AHMM’s London tower proposal grows up

Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) has submitted this revised proposal for an office tower on Blackfriars Road in south London

The 19-storey glass and aluminium-clad building, which features ground floor retail units, is two-storeys taller than AHMM’s previously consented scheme for the site.

Robert Romanis, associate director at the practice, explained: ‘The form is conceived as a rectilinear block, to which a series of facets or cuts has been applied.’

Designed together with Adams Kara Taylor, the £61 million project for Great Portland Estates is scheduled to complete in 2013.
