A £100 million regeneration proposal for the area around Leicester Tigers’ Welford Road stadium has been submitted to planners by the Frank Whittle Partnership (FWP) with AFL Architects
The new plans include a four star hotel, multi-storey carpark, and an office development, a new healthcare building and student accommodation at the site which is five minutes walk south of the city centre.
The team is currently on site with their £30 million redevelopment of the stadium which will be the largest purpose-built rugby stadium in the UK seating 30,000. Phase one of four, the Catepillar North Stand, is due for completion in July / August 2009.
Managing director of FWP David Robinson said the plans ‘will truly enhance the area and give Leicester a landmark development to be proud of’.
